About Time

So, I started Luskentyre earlier this year drawn to its pinkness.  And then it decided to go on vacation while I did other things.  Luskentyre finally got a body and all that's left are the sleeves.  I'm really happy with how this has turned out.

I may have been buying some gorgeous sock and lace yarn on Etsy.  Since I believe that shipping multiple things in one shipment saves on the postage and packaging, I may have bought these:

This is a quick post.  We've been sick with colds chez Purls and tomorrow it's back to work day.

Between dealing with my gimpy kitty, the delivery of a washer and dryer, the battle to get the brand new dryer that never worked out of the box replaced on Saturday and no one showing up on Saturday - I'm a little behind in the blogging department.

(Deep breath)  But that doesn't mean I haven't been knitting and/or spinning!  Yes, indeedy I have.  It's what's kept me from killing the first person who walks through the door and eating my young.

Here's the beginning of some socks that have no name - but I'll call them "Pinkalicious".  The yarn was a prezzie from Lorraine last year.

I have been chomping at the bit to cast on my Socks that Rock Lemongrass socks, and have chosen the pattern in Favorite Socks called "Undulating Rib Socks".

When don't feel like knitting but feel like something, I spin.  Here is "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" roving and two hanks spun:

Of course, I've made progress on Luskentyre.  I'm still loving it, but most of my brain power has been spent on speaking with the vet and asking the right questions and spending way too much time on the phone with the delivery folks.

I did manage to actually finish something!  Here are my Socks that Rock Watermelon Tourmaline socks:

Of course, retail therapy is always helpful.  I even had a doctor I work with willing to write a prescription for yarn shopping!

I bought some extra roving called "Brown Eyed Girl" that will be spun and knit into something for a co-worker:

And something very luscious and silky from Claudia Handpainted in the colorway "Earth Dot" - it's incredibly soft and there are 1100 yards here.  That gives me a lot of options!

And certainly last, but not least - my Kauni yarn.  I've had it for a while and wound it into giant tires about a week ago.  There's a lot of yarn here and I'm really looking forward to starting it.  It will be used for Ruth's Cardigan.  Lorraine is knitting it right now.  It makes me happy just looking at it.

Well, that's about all for now.  I won't be blogging much this week.  Cross your fingers that the dryer gets delivered tomorrow!  Mia has her surgery on Thursday and I'll be home with her on Friday.   She would like to thank all the blogging kitties for all their best wishes.   She thinks all you kitties ROCK!   Of course, so do I.  Knit on!

P.S. --  Happy Birthday to my sister, Marlys!

What a Difference 0.25 mm Makes!

Thank you to all my readers for your helpful comments and e-mails regarding the gauge on Luskentyre.  Since I last posted, I frogged Lusky back down to the border and changed from 2.5 mm needles to 2.75 mm needles.  Not only am I getting stitch gauge but I'm also getting very very close to row gauge.  Also, I was not really pleased with the fabric that was being knitted at 2.5 mm.  It felt stiff and dense and some of the stitches in the design were disappearing.  Changing to the 2.75 mm needles fixed all of that and the knitting is flowing on the needles.  Before I felt like I had to fight with the yarn.  Amazing what 0.25 mm makes, huh?

Lust Entire

Lorraine really hit it on the head - Lust Entire.  I am so lusting after these colors that I am entirely captured and cannot put it down.  Here is the latest Lust Entire.  She was gracious enough to be pinned down for a moment for a quick photo:

I am getting stitch gauge right on, but row gauge is a little short.  I am thinking I need to knit a few extra rows to compensate.  Any comments on this??

What’s Next?

Luskentyre!   I am thoroughly enjoying the change of colors.  I certainly have had a hard time putting it down.

I've had Luskentyre in my stash for several years now.  I'm using all J&S colors.
